TEHRAN – Tickets for Shahab Hosseini’s play “Confession” are in such high demand that asking prices are reaching ten million rials (about $265).

In an advertisement appearing on one of the popular social networks, a user scalped two tickets each for 10 million rials, almost 16 times more than the face value, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Monday.

Similar advertisements have also been published by ticket scalping rings over the past week.

In a published statement, Peyman Shariati, the director of Tehran’s City Theater Complex, where the play is on stage, said that there would be serious reactions to ticket touts.

All the tickets for the play were sold out by the end of August.

The play was written based on a text by Brad Mirman, the American screenwriter and filmmaker.

“Meeting” was Hosseini’s stage directorial debut at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center in 2012.

Hosseini won the Palme d’Or for best actor for his role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning drama “The Salesman” at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
